Administrative / Biographical History

Miss Sydney F. Lloyd (fl. 1913-1974), nurse, was brought up at Plas Tregayan, Llangwyllog, Anglesey, the daughter of Col Thomas Edward John Lloyd (born 1856) and Rosamond Anna Lloyd (died 1948). Her nursing career spanned many years with the British Red Cross Society, serving in the First and Second World Wars. From about 1936 she seems to have spent the greater part of her time living in Bath, although maintaining her connections with Anglesey and her brother Roger at Plas Tregayan. She was active in the Anglesey Hunt, being the Lady Patroness at the Hunt Ball in Beaumaris in 1923. She was also a lifelong member of the Anglesey Antiquarian Society, joining in 1913, shortly after its formation. She contributed several articles to the Society's transactions, on the Anglesey Hunt and the Hunting Club. She also wrote the history Anglesey Hunting Club 1815-1961, The Records of the Club (Bath, 1961).
