Scope and Content

Sandiland's Chemist was located at 18 Sheep Street Bicester. In the 1847 Post Office Directory of Berkshire and Oxfordshire Robert Burgess Sandiland was described as a chemists, oil colourman and dealer in tea and coffee. In 1901 the business was taken over by John Mountain and later his daughter Dorothy until the 1960s.

The records were deposited as Acc 470 in October 1963 and originally catalogued at Mount. They were recatalogued in October 2016 by Alison Smith. A conspectus of new and old references is included at the end of this catalogue.
