Scope and Content

Quarto volume, lettered A on the spine. Pages 23.5 x 19 cms. Bound in full dark blue cloth. Several notes in pencil throughout the volume written by John Harland (1806-1868).

The volume is in 3 parts: the first contains pp. 1-264; at p. 265 the pagination begins afresh and continues to 24; after which a third section begins.

The volume consists of extracts chiefly from the Kuerden MSS in Chetham's Library, mainly inquisitions post mortem and abstracts of deeds arranged alphabetically by name. Dr. Kuerden took his notes largely from original charters and other documents, some of which are now lost, and from the Towneley MSS, which are now dispersed.
