The collection contains a great deal of Rachel Pinney's correspondence, in particular pertaining to the various movements she was active in (The Peace Movement, CND, Children's Hours, Creative Listening). The collection also contains her writings on these subjects as well as a substantial amount of autobiographical material and some video and audio tapes.

Rachel Pinney (1909-1995) was born at Broadwinsor, Dorset, daughter of Sir Reginald John Pinney and Lady Hester Pinney. She married Luigi Cocuzzi in 1934 and had three children, Peter, Karin and Christopher. From 1945 until 1960 she practiced medicine, and became involved with CND and the Peace Movement during the 1950s. In 1975 she founded the Children's Hours Clinic in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She also visited Montessori schools in England and set up a Children's Hours trust.
