Thomas Hinchey papers comprising of typescript file entitled Wrestling with the Past, 1912-1928. Reminiscences by Thomas Hinchley 1912-1928 containing brief recollections of his parents Denis Hinchley and Margaret Hinchley (nee McEvoy) and their life in Kite Street, Adamsdown, and later Layard Street, Splott. They include more detailed descriptions of his own life in Layard Street; the Moors; his immediate family; a journey on the tram, Dowlais Steelworks; his life in Windsor Road, in Adamsdown; First World War armistice; experiences at St David's Roman Catholic School and at church; academic interests; poverty; sport; visits to nearby countryside; and other matters

Thomas Hinchey of Adelaide, South Australia, was born in Cardiff, 1912 and the reminiscences, entitled Wrestling with the Past, describe his own early life and that of his parents in Cardiff over the period 1912 to 1928, as recalled in 1992-2002. They provide detailed descriptions of social life in Cardiff and include his family life in Kite Street, Adamsdown and Layard Street, Splott, where they lived during the period.
