Administrative / Biographical History

Originally called the Penrhyn Bay and District Discussion Group, the Society was formed at the end of World War II as a debating society for discussion of local topics. Two societies evolved from the original group:

1. A local Ratepayers' Association

2. A Literary and Discussion Society, the activities of which were to be non-political and non-sectarian.

The "Discussion" part of the title was eventually dropped. At the 2003 AGM the decision was taken to dissolve the society, due in part to rising costs and in part to falling membership numbers.
