Scope and Content

A small group of letters from Richard Oastler (known as `The Factory King', and a strong supporter of factory reform, especially with regard to the working hours of children) to John Fielden MP. The letters are concerned mainly with the introduction of a Ten Hour Bill "...to assert the power of Truth and Justice against Gold & Steam...", and the fight against the Halifax millowners.

Also included are an incomplete copy of a printed pamphlet, Eight Letters to the Duke of Wellington...by Richard Oastler, (1835), another entitled Oastler's Liberty Fund, (1843), and one appealing for funds for the purchase of an annuity for Oastler, (1838).
