Administrative / Biographical History

MS 1505, the Bowers papers include letters, journals, photographs, newspaper cuttings and other ephemera covering Bowers childhood to his death with Scott and Wilson on the return march form the South Pole in 1912.

The collection also includes correspondence by his father Alexander, mother Emily Webb Bowers and two sisters Mary (later Lady Maxwell) and Edith.

A fully itemised catalogue for this collection, including detailed abstracts and transcriptions is available for consultation at the Institute.

The collection is split into twenty parts.
