Josef Holbrooke collection

The collection comprises of correspondence by Holbrooke to Robert Falcon Scott written prior to the latter's departure for the Antarctic as leader of the British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-1913. The correspondence relates to non-polar matters.

Josef Holbrooke was born in 1878. He was performing piano works in the Collins and Bedford Music Halls at the age of twelve. His work included military and brass band works and around eight operas, including The Cauldron of Annwn. He also produced symphonies, chamber and piano music. He died in 1958
