Scope and Content

Series of appointment diaries and notebooks kept by Martin Waddell and his wife, Rosaleen. The appointment diaries record daily appointments and events relating to all the members of the Waddell family, not solely Martin Waddell's professional engagements and meetings. The notebooks include ideas for possible stories, drafts of both published and unpublished stories, notes documenting the progress of publication of various titles and some notes and figures relating to imaginary cash transactions in a computer game which Martin Waddell used to play. The notebooks also contain many jottings, scribbles and doodles, as well as notes relating to appointments, meetings, telephone conversations and other matters not directly connected to Martin Waddell's writing career. The appointment diaries and many of the notebooks are dated, and they have been arranged here into roughly chronological order. Where notebooks contain notes or drafts which can be traced to published books, the relevant titles are recorded at file level.
