Sheila Rowbotham deposited copies of the following publications as part of her archive. Her collection predominantly comprised periodicals, pamphlets, reports & conference papers. The publications reflect Rowbotham's feminist campaigning activities in Britain, including her activities and research in the women's liberation movement and her specific interest in women's history.
Primarily national or organisational level material from the United Kingdom though some regional newsletters are included.
Subjects focus on women's liberation movement, equality, sexuality, and include associated subjects such as equal pay, status of women at work, motherhood, families, child care, women's health, abortion, women and politics (especially socialist and communist gender debates), International Women's Day and other events.
Of the original 11 archive boxes deposited, 9 contained printed material. This illustrates the importance of printed material in the campaigning activities of the 1970s-1990s.
In 2007 there was a project to identify this printed material and transfer it to the TWL Printed Collection. The publications are listed in alphabetical order. Items that are starred were already part of the TWL Collections in 2007, although many of the periodicals were incomplete series. As can be seen, this was a significant collection in the development of the printed material held by The Women's Library.
