1963 - no award

This series contains 2 copies of the printed notice about the Essay Competition and a letter from Professor W. Simon concerning one of the entries.

The Minutes for the Council Meeting for 13 June 1963 record that subjects suggested by three candidates for the Essay Competition were approved and in the Minutes for 10 October 1963 it was recorded that a decision had been deferred. In the report of the Anniversary Meeting in the Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society, 1964, p.162, it was reported that no award had been made.
