This series of records includes a complete run of minutes of the meetings of the Board of Directors bound in eight volumes and a volume of general meeting minutes with an index. Some of these volumes contain correspondence relating to matters discussed at meetings, which will be of interest. There is also a register showing the holdings of the directors in the mill.
The minute books are useful for studying the style of management employed at the mill, can help to explain business policy and record important events in the company's history. It was a requirement of the 1908 Companies Act that minutes of directors' meetings should be taken and preserved for the lifetime of the company, but fortunately, the mill kept all the minutes of earlier meetings, providing a complete sequence.
