Letter from David Smith to James Gourlay. 173 Trongate, Glasgow, 7th May 1868.
Thanks for copy of book on Loch Katrine water scheme. Agrees that Robert Stewart's work should be commemorated, but thinks a statue in George Square more suitable than a fountain. Reminiscences of earlier methods of obtaining water from wells by himself and Mrs James Hedderwick, Harley's water tank in West Nile Street, and Cranstonhill reservoir.
With envelope.
