Administrative / Biographical History

This school was situated at the head of the Lledr Valley, about a mile from Roman Bridge Station and from the nearest point on the main Dolwyddelan - Ffestiniog road. The school roll declined from an average of 20 children to only 6 in 1949.

Access to school was often made difficult by flooding: over and over again the head teacher recorded in the Log Book that the school was closed due to 'inclement weather'.

For some period the school occupied a temporary building, but in 1925 moved into purpose-built accommodation.
