The collection comprises black and white copies made in 1998 of photographs taken between about 1913 and 1991. The photographs depict buildings in Chilwell, Nottinghamshire including domestic houses, pubs, Chilwell Brickyard, shops, Chilwell Hall, Gregory's Nurseries and two views of the inside of Alfred Mears' cobblers shop, Old Chilwell. Other photographs show individuals and groups of people such as members of the Mears family, children at Meadow Lane School, Women's Voluntary Service, Chilwell cricket team, and 1st Chilwell and Attenborough scout group. There are also photographs of events in the village such as the demolition of Chilwell Bridge and Myford's factory, Chilwell jubilee bonfire, and the opening of Chilwell almshouses. Some views of Beeston, Nottinghamshire are also included.
