Scope and Content

Records of the Bradford and District St David's Society comprising photocopies of the Society's minute books, 6 Feb. 1929-31 Oct. 1944, and 1 Dec. 1944-31 Oct. 1949, with minutes of a meeting held on 2 Nov. 1955, including minutes of executive committee meetings and annual general meetings; rules of the society and press cuttings relating to its activities; together with typescripts of the first part of the history of the Society, 1902-1914, compiled by Glyn G. Roberts, including an account of the inaugural meeting, 1 March 1902; the cymanfa ganu tradition in Yorkshire; a survey of Welsh classes held in the Bradford area since the 1960s under the sponsorship of the Society, with signatures of members of the 1998-1999 class; and a membership list, 1998-1999. Additional records were donated in April 2001, comprising photocopies of minute books, 1966-2000, including minutes of executive committee meetings and annual general meetings; together with a photocopy, in English and Welsh, of a brief history of the Society which was presented to the Trelew Eisteddfod committee during Mr Glyn G. Roberts's visit to Patagonia in Oct. 2000.
