Scope and Content

This series contains contracts, tenders, specifications and accounts covering the Finsbury Park to Cockfosters extension of the Piccadilly Line, the western extension of the Piccadilly Line from Hammersmith to Northfields, including the section from Acton Town to Chiswick Park Station. Subjects include work at Northfields Depot, Ealing Common Depot, Acton Town Institute canteen and Cockfosters car sheds; on escalators at Holborn and Highgate (now Archway) Stations; booking hall and escalators at Russell Square, Dover Street (now Green Park), Hyde Park Corner, Knightsbridge, Chancery Lane, Marble Arch, Warren Street and Kentish Town Stations; passages and escalators between Bank and Monument Stations; demolition of the original Hammersmith and Chiswick Park Stations; new station buildings at Boston Manor, Sudbury Town, Chiswick Park, Warren Street and Manor House Stations and extensive work at Leicester Square Station, including work on the London Hippodrome and Scotch Stores Public House.
