Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Spellow Lane Presbyterian Church, Liverpool, was initially established at Salop Street in 1886, after a large number of the congregation of the Union Presbyterian Church of England, Kirkdale, decided to leave and form a new church. An existing church building in Salop Street was purchased and officially opened as the Salop Street Presbyterian Church on 27 March 1886. Following the abandonment of a scheme to extent the Salop Street site in May 1891, it was decided to build a new church on vacant land in Spellow Lane. The foundation stones of a new building were laid at the end of December 1891, and the new church opened as the Spellow Lane Presbyterian Church on 8 May 1892.
Arrangement
Arranged at NLW into two series by record type: minutes of sessions, and manager's minutes.
