Carmarthen Borough Police was established in the mid 19th cent. Following the The Police Act 1946 Carmarthenshire Constabulary absorbed Carmarthen Borough Police in 1947. Carmarthenshire and Cardiganshire Constabulary was formed on 1 July 1958 by the merger of Cardiganshire Constabulary and Carmarthenshire Constabulary.
