The Comforts Fund was set up in November 1939 to provide ‘comforts’ to the members of the Regiment on active service. In December 1940, after most of 100 Company had been captured at Dunkirk, the Prisoners of War sub-committee was set up to help the members of the Regiment who were in German prisoner of war camps. It organised the sending of monthly parcels of cigarettes and other items, and the families of prisoners were visited and assisted. Mrs Everett, wife of Major Howard Everett, was secretary of the committee, and some of the records may later have become confused with Major Everett’s own records. When the committee was wound up, its balances were passed to the Welfare Fund.
