Scope and Content

Mona mines records, 1789 - 1889; Amlwch brewery, 1888 - 1898; elections, 1784 - 1794; miscellaneous business papers, 1813 - 1899; remembrance cards, 1864 - 1884; and personal papers, [1880s] - 1897.

Administrative / Biographical History

Thomas Fanning Evans (1839-1891), metal mine owner, was the first metal mine inspector in North Wales. He later became a shareholder and owner-operator of parts of the Parys and Mona copper mines, Amlwch, Anglesey, leasing the Mona mine from 1866 to 1897, and by 1892, owner of Parys mine. He lived at Mona Lodge, Amlwch, during the 1880s-1890s. He had wide business interests, and was also a J.P., High Sheriff, and shipowner.
