These records, gathered by Challenor & Son in the course of their business, were deposited in two stages: the documents in sections SL34/1-32 of the catalogue were transferred from Berkshire Record Office in December 2016 as accession 6528, while the documents in section SL34/33-61 were received directly from Challenor in February 1979 as accession 1602.
The bulk of the contents of this earlier accession (which relates to the area of Oxfordshire that was within the county of Berkshire at the time the records were created) were transferred to Berkshire Record Office in November 2016 and so do not form part of this catalogue.
