Administrative / Biographical History

The United States Antarctic Expedition, 1928-1930 (leader Richard Evelyn Byrd) set up base at 'Little America' at the Bay of Whales, Ross Sea Sector. Reconnaissance flights and sledge journeys were undertaken. 42 men wintered at the base.
