Scope and Content

The archive includes the papers of three members of the Dale family: James Dale, who served as a retainer for Lady Warburton of Arley and accompanied her on a tour of Europe in 1818 (DP/2/1); William Dale, whose papers comprise accounts for building work done at his house, a rental and a lease, 1874-1898 (DP/2/2); and Alan Dale (1891-1981), a local historian, who collected antiquarian material and made extensive notes on the Dale family and on the history of Alderley, Great Warford and Mobberley; his papers (DP/2/3) span the years 1836-1975.
