Administrative / Biographical History

In 1844, the Commission of Inquiry into the turnpikes in South Wales recommended that the Government replace the trusts with nominated county roads boards. The resultant Cardiganshire County Roads Board was created, again divided into the Aberystwyth and Cardigan districts.
