The series comprises a variety of material relating to the registration, attendance and examination of both undergraduate and postgraduate medical students. It was common for Faculties and Departments to maintain their own registers and report books, in addition to similar records held by the University's central administration. The documents include a list of medical students enrolled per session (FME/7/1); declaration books (FME/7/2), similar to matriculation registers, which record students enrolled for particular degrees; allocation books (FME/7/3) which record students attending courses and supervisions of the clinical part of their degree, held at various local hospitals; a miscellany of registers (FME/7/4), including general registers dating from 1902-1920, which provide a useful record of the student's work during the course of their studies (FME/7/4/1-3), together with registers for students working at MRI, a register of pre-house appointments of qualified medical students, postgraduate students taking the certificate in venereology, and a register of students of St Mary's Hospital, London, evacuated to the University during the early stages of the Second World War. FME/7/5 comprises mostly lists of medical students drawn up for various purposes, including lists of female medical students, and students taking the D.P.H.
