UMIST issued its first calendar in 1994, following constitutional changes which gave it much greater independence from the University of Manchester. Previously, the University of Manchester calendars had provided information about the institution in its guise as the faculty of technology.
UMIST calendars were usually divided into two volumes, the second volume comprised text of the charter, statutes and ordinances and regulations. The first volume contained information on the government of the institution, office holders, membership of committees staff lists, scholarships and prizes, and administrative and academic services.
The set is incomplete; Volume 2 (statutes, ordinances etc.) missing for 1995/6, 1997/8, 1999/2000, 2001/2-2003/4.
