Records of student experiments conducted as part of coursework, dating from the earliest laboratory work undertaken at the Oxford Road site in 1872 to 1910. Students attended up to two practical classes a week, where they undertook experiments previously demonstrated in lectures. There was a particular emphasis on experiments involving precision; using balances, verniers, cathetometers, dividing engines an the goniometer. Students were required to enter reports of their practical work in these volumes.
