Departmental Expenses Estimates

Each academic department compiled annual statements of expenditure for the forthcoming academic year based on estimates and expenditure of the previous financial year, and adjusted for new expenditure (and income). These estimates were approved by the Bursar and ultimately by the University Council. Estimates would identify new or special items of expenditure such as equipment purchases, new staff, and salary increases. Copies of the Department's annual submission of estimated expenditure , submitted each year to the University Bursar. Documents are not present for 1932, 1942 and 1944. It is not believed any estimates from before 1922 or after 1950 have survived.
