The volume contains recollections by John Thomas Stanley (1766-1850) of his school-days, extensive accounts of his travels abroad in Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Sicily, etc., from 1781 onwards, pen and ink drawings of scenes in Italy and Sicily, and reflections upon various writings of Rousseau, etc. The paper is watermarked 1806 and a note on the flyleaf dates the book about 1813. However, it was evidently written at different periods, a late additional note (p.49) being dated 1847. Pocket journals (p.27) were included among the material used, and a number of spaces left for additional matter have not been filled. There is a brief index of contents at the back of the volume. Old number, 21.
