Signed minute books including minutes of ordinary meetings, annual meetings, committee meetings, special meetings and meetings of sub-committees. The first minute book is manuscript, later minutes are typescript. Minutes are detailed and include reports of discussions and papers read. These discussions cover a wide range of public health issues, for example 'noxious vapours' from chemical works, infectious diseases, and milk supply. They also include discussions and reports on the role of medical officers and the Society of Medical Officers of Health. The minute books also include rules and bylaws, reports, programmes, newspaper cuttings, offprints, statements of accounts (from 1945), and agendas.
The minutes from 1925 to 1939 have been missing since the 1960s. However, proceedings of the Association/Branch were published (at first in the Manchester Guardian, then from 1885-1888 in The Health Journal, and from 1888 up to the 1950s in Public Health). Addresses given at meetings were also often published. There is also a gap in minutes from 1965 to 1968.
