Peter Rowe was appointed as a lecturer in civil engineering at the University of St Andrews in 1948. The few papers that have survived from this period relate to his lecturing and practical work at the University's academic centre in Dundee. This centre had been established in 1897 and it became the separate University of Dundee in 1967. The papers largely comprise tutorial and lecture notes in soil mechanics. Rowe resigned his lectureship in 1952 to take up an appointment at the University of Manchester.
