Administrative / Biographical History

Haygarth was a psysician at Chester Infirmary. A friend of Thomas Percival, he contributed to the proceedings of the Manchester Literary and Philosophical Society. His research interest was the prevention of infectious diseases. He set up separate fever wards in Chester which later led to the formation of fever hospitals in Manchester and Liverpool.
