Scope and Content

Catalogue of correspondence and papers of William Pitt compiled in 1834 by William Edward Tomline from the collection of George Pretyman Tomline, Bishop of Winchester. Most of the letters are dated in the 1780s and 1790s. The volumes cover the following years:

  • I - 1773-1806;
  • II - 1774-1823;
  • III - 1754-1806;
  • IV - 1759-1806;
  • V - 1724-1806;
  • VI - 1702-1806.

In most cases a lengthy description of the contents of each letter is given, sometimes with extracts.
