Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Laighpark Electric Motors Ltd , electrical engineers and manufacturers, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland, was registered on 31 December 1931 . The company was based at Albion Engineering Works, Laighpark, Paisley, bought for å£500, with an office at Bothwell Street, Glasgow, Scotland. They bought the moveable assets of Walter McGhee & Sons Ltd, electrical engineers and manufacturers, Glasgow, for the sum of å£1000 in 1932. Both these purchases were apparently made on behalf of J & P Coats Ltd , thread manufacturers, Paisley. The offices were moved to St Vincent Lane, Glasgow, in November 1932, the same location as J & P Coats Ltd. In 1935, the company's assets at Laighpark were purchased for å£4,750 by The British Cotton & Wool Dyers' Association. The company appears to have ceased trading in 1936 .
