Administrative / Biographical History
Agnes Duncan Gray was born in Newmains, Lanarkshire, on 20 November 1894 . Her father, James Duncan Gray, was a clerk. She attended the University of Glasgow from 1913-1916 , taking classes in Latin and French in her first year; German, Logic and Geography in her second; and English (Higher) and French in her third and final year. She was awarded first class certificates in French in 1914 and Geography in 1915. Agnes graduated with an MA in June 1916 and subsequently became a teacher in Lanarkshire. She died in Wishaw, Lanarkshire on 17 October 1987 .
