Scope and Content

Administrative / Biographical History

Financial records, primarily bills receipts and invoices from ports, generated throughout voyages from outfitting to home berthing and sent to head office where stamped as received and filed originally in voyage account boxes. Boxes were labelled by ship, voyage number and leg of voyage. There is an element of discrepancy in the addressing of invoices and other items in that some are addressed to Wm Thomson & Co, Ben Line Containers Ltd and Ben Line Steamers Ltd. The ships were all operating under Ben Line Containers Ltd. Files have been transferred to archival boxes, with the original box information recorded in the description.
