Administrative / Biographical History
The Glasgow University Alexandrian Society was founded in 1887 . It is a student-run society and is one of the oldest in the university, indeed one of the oldest in Britain. It holds regular meetings during term-time on classical and classics-related subjects and there is usually an excursion in the summer to a place of interest outside Glasgow. In the late 1960s the meetings consisted of a mixture of plays and papers (read by students and lecturers).
