Records of Stoddard International plc, Design Archive, Contemporary Set Formal Design

Scope and Content

Medium and large sized design patterns from around the 1950s-1980s. Designs mainly feature floral and Persian patterns, though there are also some distinctly modern geometric designs, often in quite vivid, bright colours. There are designs by, amongst others, Tapis Studio Services and some that bear the letters GG which could refer to George Grant, Head of Design at A F Stoddard & Co Ltd from the 1980s onwards. Some of the design patterns are in the format of colour photographs or computer aided designs (CAD), rather than being hand painted.

This description is part of the Design Archive  which is divided into the 142 sections, each with its own separate description.
