Administrative / Biographical History
Dr John Reginald Kellett graduated with a PhD from University College, London , England, in 1952 and received a MA from St John's College , Cambridge on the 21 March 1953. He was appointed as lecturer in the Department of Economic History at the University of Glasgow , Scotland, in 1958. His specialist subject was urban history. In 1966 he was promoted to Senior Lecturer and became a Reader in 1973. His book, The Impact of Railways on Victorian Cities, was published in 1969. He took early retirement in 1984 and he died in the early 1990s.

Custodial History
The collection used to be part of GB 248 UGD 088 which included the records of J A Campbell & J L Lamond , Solicitors, Edinburgh (UGD 037) which were used by Dr Kellet in the course of his research. These have now been returned to GB 248 UGD 037. The remaining papers have been listed as GB 248 UGC 41 to reflect the changed nature of the collection.
