Administrative / Biographical History
Agnes Mathie Goldie was born in Glasgow on 18 August 1904 . Her father James Goldie was a wholesale ironmonger. Agnes attended the University of Glasgow from 1922-1923 and 1924-1927 ,taking classes in History and French in her first year; History (Higher), English and French in her second; British History, English (Higher) and Constitutional History in her third, and History (Honours) in her fourth and final year. She was awarded a certificate in Modern European History (Higher) in 1925 and a second class certificate in Constitutional Law and History in 1926. She graduated with a second class honours MA in History in November 1927 and subsequently became a teacher in Glasgow. Agnes died in Glasgow on 20 August 1980 .
