Administrative / Biographical History

Allan MacInnes MacLeod was born on the Isle of Iona in 1920. Allan attended the University of Glasgow from 1938-1944  , taking classes in Latin, Greek and Celtic in his first year; English Literature (Ordinary), Moral Philosophy (Ordinary) and Celtic (Higher Ordinary), and Geology and Education in his third year. He came third in his Celtic (Ordinary) examination in 1939, first in Celtic (Higher) in 1940 and third in Education in 1941. He was also awarded a first class certificate in English (Ordinary) in 1940 and the Cowie Prize and Medal in Geology in 1941. He graduated with an MA in September 1941  , and returned the following year to study theology, taking classes in Old Testament, New Testament, Church History and Systematic Theology in his fourth year; Church History, Biblical Criticism, Hebrew and Systematic Theology in his fifth, and Practical Theology and Christian Apologetics in his sixth and final year. He subsequently became a minister, serving initially in Grangemouth and then from 1962 onwards as an RAF chaplain.
