The collection contained examination papers and answer booklets for Chemistry and Organic Chemistry from 1930-1934 but these have been removed to the University's examination papers collection, which can be consulted on request.

Administrative / Biographical History

Lilias Mary Watson Barron was born in 1912  in Alva, Clackmannanshire, Scotland, and attended the University of Glasgow, Scotland, from 1930-1934  taking classes in Mathematics, Chemistry, Natural Philosophy and Botany. Lilias graduated BSc in 1934  and went on to marry to become Mrs Barron.

Her daughter, Lilias Hunter Barron, was born in Stirling in 1944 and was a student at Alva Academy and Alloa Academy. Lilias attended the University of Glasgow from 1962-1968, taking classes in Chemistry (Ordinary), Natural Philosophy (Ordinary) and Botany (Ordinary) in her first year; Double Chemistry, Physiology and Biochemistry in her second; Biochemistry (Higher) in her third; Genetics (Higher) and Bacteriology in her fourth, and Comibed Biology (Honours) in her fifth and final year. She was awarded a first class certificate in Chemistry (Ordinary) in 1963. She graduated with a second class BSc in Combined Biology in June 1968. This collection contains one of her Chemistry lecture books.
