Introduction to the Hub: presentation
This presentation from 2013 gives an overview of the Archives Hub and cataloguing for an online environment: www.slideshare.net/bethanar/archives-hub-introduction-2013
Creating descriptions
We have a step-by-step guide to creating descriptions in the EAD Editor. If you're attending the workshops, we'll bring a copy of this for you.
You are welcome to bring your own descriptions with you to use in the workshop, but we also provide some sample data for you to use. We provide this in plain text format, as copying from proprietary programs such as Microsoft word can cause problems with hidden mark-up.

Digital Archival Objects
The EAD Editor allows you to link to Digital Archival Objects. This means you can add images or links to text/audio/video files to your descriptions. The files you link to will need to be accessible from the internet, and hosted either on your own servers, or a hosting service such as Flikr. The Archives Hub can't host your files for you.
We've provided some sample digital objects below. You can use these or try linking to your own material.

Index terms
Index terms (or access points) can help users to discover descriptions. We ask that you add at least one index term to your descriptions, the name of the creator. We have information on indexing here: https://archiveshub.jisc.ac.uk/eadeditorindexing/. You might also find this UKAD tutorial on indexing useful.
Importing data
You can import EAD data into the EAD Editor, such as exports from archival management systems (including Calm and Adlib).
Feedback form
We'd really appreciate your feedback, to help us improve our training: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/711736/Archives-Hub-Contributors-Training-Day-Feedback
