Administrative / Biographical History

James Reid first became involved in photography during WW II when he worked as a machinist for Rolls Royce. He went on to take over the running of the Lyceum Studio in Govan Road, Glasgow, Scotland in 1946  . But because the studio was liable to flood due to its close proximity to the River Clyde, James Reid gave up the Lyceum Studio and went in to freelance photography work. He then established the James Reid Press Agency , where he was registered as an Incorporated Photographer in 1958  , and specialised in commerical, portraiture and wedding photographs. The main office was located in Paisley Road West, Glasgow, Scotland.
