Administrative / Biographical History

The private bank of Storey & Thomas was formed in 1816 by William Storey and Edwin Thomas in Shaftesbury. In 1840 its business was converted into a joint stock bank, Storey & Thomas' Banking Co. It was acquired in 1855 by the Wilts & Dorset Banking Company (est. 1835).
