Administrative / Biographical History

Bob Thom was born in Wolverhampton in 1917. At the age of 17 he joined the Wolverhampton Wheelers and began competitive racing, winning the Midland Area Championship at the age of 21. He joined the Viking Road Racers when they were formed in 1948 and his successes continued, both as a team rider and an independent rider for Viking Cycles, where he soon progressed to Sales Manager. He became Viking's team manager, England team manager, National Cyclo Cross Team Manager and president of the British Cyclo-Cross Association (B.C.C.A.). He died in 2004.
