Birds in the Collection of Kettlewell

Scope and Content

There are three notebooks with observations on birds in the collection of C.J. Kettlewell. The entries in the volumes are arranged according to families of birds, and each entry has the name of the bird, list of specimens, various notes and measurements. The University Museum of Zoology, Cambridge lists only one skin collected by C.T. [not C.J.] Kettlewell in 1883.

Administrative / Biographical History

There are no biographical details about C. J. Kettlewell. He was (or was related to) Charles Kettlewell of Dumbleton Hall, Evesham, Gloucestershire, who was the owner of the screw schooner Marchesa.

Manuscripts can be consulted on appointment only. The Museum of Zoology is open Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 17:00 pm. Access and reproduction is at the discretion of the Archivist.
