Dr John Morris Roberts (1928-) was Prize Fellow, Magdalen College, Oxford, 1951-3; Commonwealth Fund Fellow, Princeton and Yale, 1953-4; Fellow and Tutor at Merton College, Oxford, 1953-79; acting Warden of Merton College, 1969-70 and 1977-9; Senior Proctor, Oxford University, 1967-8; Vice Chancellor and Professor, University of Southampton, 1979-85; Warden of Merton College, Oxford, 1984-1991.
